about

When I listen to 60's girl groups like The Shangri-La's, The Shirelles, Leslie Gore, I hear such power in their voices. These women were trailblazers of Pop. Songs like Remember feature such strength, such anger. I think of the anger of the 60's, the Civil Rights Movement, the Anti-War Movement, the Fight for Gay Rights, for Women's Liberation. When these women spoke, when they sang, it was impossible not to listen. I will never forget those voices for change. They inspire me every day, and remind me that the fight is far from over.

lyrics

Seems like the other day
my baby went away
he went away 'cross the sea
It's been two years or so
since I saw my baby go
and then this letter came for me

It said that we were through
he found somebody new
let me think, let me think
what can I do

oh no
oh no
Oh no, no, no, no, no

(Remember)
Walking in the sand
walking hand in hand
the night was so exciting
his smile was so inviting
then he touched my cheek
with his fingertips
softly, softly,
with our lips

what ever happened to
that boy that i once knew
the boy who said he'd be true
oh what happened to
that life i gave to you
what will i do with it now?

oh no
oh no
Oh no, no, no, no, no

(Remember)
Walking in the sand
walking hand in hand
the night was so exciting
his smile was so inviting
then he touched my cheek
with his fingertips
softly, softly,
with our lips

its been two years or so
since I saw my baby go
and then this letter came for me
it said that we were through
he found somebody new
let me think, let me think
what can I do

about

Queera Nightly Oakland, California

Reflections of a dark belladonna, The Girl Who Fell spins a tale of secrets and desire.

How the wounded young woman will run forever, losing time and losing sleep, tangled up in vintage telephone lines.

I met her once, a shadow in the bar.

I doubt she remembers me at all.

I asked her her name, her story. She laughed.
“How much time do you have?”
