about

The secrets began to eat me alive. I was here, but I was not. I knew exactly what I was on some level, knew enough to keep it secret. I would tuck a strand of hair behind my ear and smile, no light behind the eyes. I followed my orders and drowned within myself. Only speaking with my shadow once the sun had set and prying eyes were off to dreamland.

lyrics

Brick and mortar
Cobblestones in order
The path forward is always clear as day

Meek and quiet
Never cause a riot
And if I tried I’d be hushed away

Sleep, deny it
A life in ultraviolet
And if I fall tonight,
I lived to entertain

I’m not like the others
And if they’d read between the poetry,
They’d surely be destroyed
No, I’m not like the others
I cross my heart and bleed through cherry lips
I’ll never go astray

Cry, my darling
Love is so disarming
But if I close my eyes I’ll drift away

Charmed too silent
I keep my demons private
And yes, I hope to die to hear my lover say

That I’m not like the others
And if they’d read between the poetry,
They’d surely be destroyed
No, I’m not like the others
I cross my heart and bleed through cherry lips
I’ll never go astray

I’m not like the others
Brick and mortar
Cobblestones in order
The path forward is always clear as day

about

Queera Nightly Oakland, California

Reflections of a dark belladonna, The Girl Who Fell spins a tale of secrets and desire.

How the wounded young woman will run forever, losing time and losing sleep, tangled up in vintage telephone lines.

I met her once, a shadow in the bar.

I doubt she remembers me at all.

I asked her her name, her story. She laughed.
“How much time do you have?”
